Look down to “Current Appraised & Assessed Value.” The county is valuing your property at the amount listed under “Total Appraised.” The value is based on 2018 sales and not current 2019 market values. If you think the appraised value is too high, or if you purchased in 2018 and it is higher than your 2018 sales price, you have the option to appeal your assessment.
Find the section labeled “Assessment Notice” and click on the button “I want to file an appeal for 2019.” Follow the directions and complete the online form. You only have 45 calendar days from June 1, 2019 to file the appeal. The deadline is July 16, 2019. You must complete an online appeal, hand deliver, or postmark the appeal by July 16, 2019. There are no exceptions.
When you receive a response by mail in a few weeks to months you need to decline and ask for BoE hearing.
